Introduction to Project

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) has established educational programs throughout the world.  The primary aim of these programs is to help students in gaining an understanding and personal witness of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ while they pursue their secular studies.

As a religion teacher in the Church Education System for the past 7 years I have seen myself and others teach both powerfully and superficially. I feel passionately about helping raise the standard of teaching that is being done in the LDS church.  As J. Reuben Clark a member of the First Presidency at one time said " You do not need to whisper spiritual truths in the ears of these spiritually experienced youth."  Yet many of our teachers shy away from being direct, bold and powerful with our youth and instead teach a lightly watered down gospel that provides little sustenance in time of need.  The intent of this web site, is to focus the individual on the principles of powerful teaching that will impact individuals in and out of the classroom and help us achieve a level of teaching that will be pleasing to our Lord and Savior.

For this project I intend to create an online resource, a handbook of instructions, designed for  LDS religious educators across the globe to access, so as to facilitate and strengthen the teaching in the LDS classroom.  It can be offered in an interactive mode through computer-assisted instruction on a compact disk or over the Internet.  Here, the focus is on teaching in the LDS seminary classroom.

Produced in Net Objects Fusion 3.0, this multimedia handbook will make extensive use of text and other information to teach and provide quality material and perspective for the LDS volunteer seminary teacher. This handbook can best be viewed in Netscape Communicator 4.0 and on a 17 inch monitor and a screen width of 755 pixels.

This online resource for LDS teachers is offered with the following purposes in mind.

  • To inspire teachers to more effective and powerful teaching in the LDS classroom.
  • To help teachers know and understand the principles behind quality religious instruction.
  • To guide teachers in applying these principles in the classroom so that quality religious instruction is assured.
  • To help teachers develop quality teaching skills for religious education.
  • To provide a resource of information for teachers that will compliment their teaching.

The Project concludes with a Journal and summary of my experiences.

This journal and summary include personal entries outlining my experience learning Net Objects Fusion 3.0. As well as a summary of why I organized the content of the online handbook I have produced the way I did.  Finally this journal and summary include recommendations, insights and a judgment on Net Objects for future users.
